General Duty Assistant Course are also known as “Nursing Care Assistant”, “Nursing Assistant”, “Nursing Aide”, “Bedside Assistant” when working in a hospital environment. General Duty Assistants (GDA) work under the supervision of doctors, medical assistants & nurses.

General Duty Assistant Course program is designed to provide quality care to patients admitted in Clinics, Hospitals, and nursing homes. General Duty Assistant students have a good career options to choose from, and can progress in their field by taking on additional training and responsibilities. Students looking to enter the medical profession begin their careers as a certified GDA, after which they can take up the profession of Nursing Assistants. After some experience as Nursing Assistants, they can take up the job role of Supervisors, Floor Supervisors, and finally Managers, which are deemed as more independent job roles.

General Duty Assistants assist patients in activities such as bathing, eating, and walking. The person on the job provides, patient care and helps maintain a suitable and sterile environment. A few major responsibilities of a General Duty Assistant or Nursing Care Assistant are to provide patient daily care, patient comfort, patient safety and patient health needs.

The General Duty Assistant (GDA) course prepares students to work:

  a) As a Nursing Assistant in Nursing Homes, Clinics, Hospitals and Home Care scenarios.
  b) As part of the curriculum, students learn to deliver basic nursing care and manage sick patients.

  c) A GDA works closely with doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers.

  d) The General Duty Supportive Curriculum lays special emphasis on developing empathetic and ethical behaviour beyond patient care.

The course includes 6 months of classroom training followed by practical training.
