Who is a Nursing Care Assistant? What are his tasks? What is it like to become an NCA?

Nursing care assistants are confederated healthcare professionals. They are not as qualified as registered nurses and Nursing assistants are also known as nurse associated. They work alongside or under the supervision of qualified nurses and Doctors or we can say that they work in tandem with Doctors and RNs. They usually are part of the nursing teams serving at hospitals, clinics and nursing homes.

Nursing care assistants’ main tasks include -

  1.  Carry out tasks or instructions given by Doctors or nurses.
  2. Serve meals to patients

  3. Take care of patient hygiene (bathing them, cleaning their rooms, groom them etc).

  4. Arrange equipment and accessories in patients’ rooms

  5. Record patients’ body stats (pulse, weight, blood pressure etc)

  6. Administer medications

  7. Communicate with patients and their family members

  8. Take patients for tests and treatment processes

The course includes 6 months of classroom training followed by practical training.

Course Duration: 6 Months + Internship
